This is the title of a game my sisters and I have been playing since we were kids. No one gets it but us. I'm not even going to bother sharing the rules with you, because (like my husband and brother-in-law) you will just look at us and say, "Whaaaat???"
But we giggle like fools every time.
"The Ugly Face Game" is also the title of this week's episode of The Paperclipping Roundtable, where I was a guest along with Debbie Hodge, Katie Clemons, and hosts Noell and Izzy.
The episode is all about storytelling and journaling ideas. There are lots of story sparks and ideas to inspire your scrapbook pages—or stories to capture in your journal.
And of course, I mentioned The Ugly Face Game, which made a minor appearance in this scrapbook layout from 2007, which I mentioned on the show:
Yeah, ugly faces on display.
We all look much better than this usually, but we're not too proud to share our less-lovely sides for all the world to see. This is a spreadsheet-style layout that captures lots of random facts about me and my sisters. How we're alike, how we're different, who still has her appendix and who does not, that sort of thing.
In the episode, I also mentioned another spreadsheet layout that was made more recently.
This one compares and contrasts facts and stats about my life in four different stages. Wow, talk about bravery! Not only did I share the "ugly face game" in this post, I have now shared photos of myself from Junior High school with some epic bangs and heavy blue eyeliner.
Okay, I can't resist. I have to share one more! Here's the layout I mentioned on the show that compares my baby and my dog using a checklist. I created the table in Microsoft Word and used an alphabet stamp for the X's.
It's been a few years since I completed this layout, but I still do adore grey-on-grey polka-dots!
So, go have a listen to this week's episode.
And if you're in the mood for even more journaling fun, my new workshop, Quizapalooza, starts TOMORROW!
