December, I'm so glad you're here.
I'm ready for crackling fires, mittens, and hot cocoa.
I'm ready for twinkling lights and Christmas carols.
I'm ready for Elf, A Christmas Story
, It's a Wonderful Life
, A Claymation Christmas
, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas
(which sends me instantly back to 1983). Want to see me in 1983?
I'm the one with the brown hair (obviously). And by the way, how tight is Santa squeezing my little sister? Maybe she was on the naughty list this year.
I'm ready to try my hand at another obscure Christmas recipe. (We vanquished the Figgy Pudding in 2008. This year, perhaps...sugarplums?)
I'm ready for presents, given and received.
I'm ready for peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
And to be truthful, I'm ready to say goodbye to 2009 and hello to a fresh, sparkling New Year.
Let's kick off the month with a layout, shall we?
This is my December Write. Click. Scrapbook. contribution. The photos aren't technically wonderful, but I love them because I love all of these people, so this layout makes me smile.
Here's a challenge for you this month: while you're taking photos of all the adorable kids running around at family parties, snap some pictures of the adults in your life too. They may protest, they may hide behind the Christmas tree, but hunt them down and snap their pictures. You'll be glad you did. (Maybe try convincing them this way: "Chances are you look far better right now than you will next year, with aging and such. So you might as well let me take your picture now.")
Other favorites from the Write. Click. Scrapbook. gallery this month: Rachel Gainer's, Erin Sweeney's, and Emily Pitts's.
Bring on the merry making!
