I feel comfortable sharing these handmade gifts because the recipients have either already opened their gifts, or I'm more than 99% sure that they will not be checking this blog before they tear into their tastefully wrapped packages. So, if you're reading this now, there's less than a 1% chance that one of these is for you. (And I'm sure you're sorely disappointed...)
Holding true to the old adage that "all good things come from Wendy," I saw this idea in a link Ms. Smedley sent me a couple of weeks ago. They really are SUPER easy and I think they make a great gift for the right female in your life.
Here's the tutorial:And here's what I made in a single afternoon, while watching Flight of the Conchords (season two)
Simple and straightforward, in a fun geometric green print.
Peacock blue for a girl who LOVES this color. This one has a handmade fabric flower that I decorated with a bit of paint and a daub of chunky, white glitter in the very center.
Me modeling the peacock necklace in my bathroom mirror. Hey, I have to check the length! It's not like I went out to dinner like this! (Recipient, please excuse the spaghetti-sauce stains on your new necklace. I have no idea how they got there.)
A stripey design for a fun & funky friend. (Hope she likes it!)
A bold red necklace featuring TWO fabric flowers. Starting to get crazy here... What's next, three flowers?
I really would like to make a few more, but I think I'll get more adventurous with my fabrics. Something shiny, satiny, or sparkly would be nice.
One parting tip: I bought this package of beads from JoAnn's for $3.99, and I made all four of the above necklaces, with 17 beads to spare. (That's easily two more necklaces.)
Happy Christmas crafting!
