After I finished writing that last post, I continued thinking about how scrapbooking equips us to deal with certain challenges better than we otherwise would. I was reminded of an article I wrote a couple of years ago—an article I consider to be the crowning achievement of my Simple Scrapbooks career. It's definitely the best piece of writing I churned out in my 5 years with the magazine, and I got permission to republish it here. The lessons and the layouts are still very relevant.

There was a fifth story that we had to pull from the article at the last minute. Like all of these, it was a story that left an indelible imprint on me, and it ultimately inspired me to create an album for a friend of mine whose father passed away suddenly last November. I'll share that story, and the album, tomorrow.

I loved this article, and yes, I agree with you... that was one of the best of the best of Simple, and that's the kind of stuff I miss every single time I walk by the magazine aisle at the store or open my mailbox to see what's arrived. Thank you for posting it here.

You know what, I was cutting apart old magazines last summer to clear room in my scrap space, and I saved that article in its entirety. Reading it again now brought tears to my eyes. Again. I will revisit it soon--we are going to have to put our dog Roswell down, probably before the end of the year. Thank you for giving my sadness about it some focus.

I remember this article from when it was published ... thank you for sharing it again! I see Amanda commented here already, but I thought I'd encourage your readers to check out goodgriefblog.com, if they're looking to scrap through the grief process along with us. It's been tremendously healing. Thank you!

I remember this from the first time I read it in Simple Scrapbooks - it hit so close to home then and it still does. I agree that it was one of if not the best article ever written in Simple and since I love and miss that magazine still that's saying something! Thank you so much for sharing it with us again!
