Last week was a blast, wasn't it? I had so much fun bouncing around to everyone's blogs, sharing memories and celebrating Simple Scrapbooks magazine. It was a beautiful way to say goodbye to a beloved friend, even though Simple's spirit will continue to live on through all of us. (Wow, I didn't mean for that to sound quite so cheesy. Did you hear a flock of white doves suddenly take flight as you read that?)
Here's a little sneak peek of something else I'm working on: organizing my scrap space. I've gotten exactly this far:
I'm organizing my embellishments into this lovely decor piece. You see, I've had this Making Memories Embellishment Center
for over a year, and it's taken me this long to be motivated to actually start putting stuff in in it! And I think the only reason I'm motivated now is because Wendy is helping me. (To be honest, my husband kind of tricked/bribed her into helping me so that I'd get my stuff under control. Nice one, Trav.)
Here's what's so cool about Wendy Smedley (besides the fact that her name kinda rhymes): she asks fantastic questions; she stops me from making big organizing mistakes; she helps me understand how to approach sorting, organizing, purging, finding containers, and storing all my stuff; and she generally keeps me on the right track. I've been encouraging her to hire herself out, so she can spread organizational joy to scrapbookers statewide. She was trained in part by none other than organizing genius Aby Garvey, her co-author for The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker. So tell me this, if you were (or maybe are) living in the greater Salt Lake area and could hire Wendy to show up at your house and help you organize your stuff, would you do it?
And here's an inspiration piece I picked up at IKEA the other day. This is going somewhere in my scrap space to inspire me with its fantastic color palette, cool mix of patterns, and adorable elephant illustrations. I don't know...I just have a thing for elephants lately!
I'm taking it slow, folks, but that's all right with me. It will mean my space is all the more thought out in the end. And when I'm done, I'll share some before-and-after photographs.
Coming Later This Week
I'll share some of the helpful grammar tips from my guest lecture at Salt Lake Community College a couple of weeks ago. My lecture covered such enthralling topics as Common Grammar Mistakes, Common Grammar Questions, and Grammar Myths, among other ramblings. Stay tuned!
Lucas out.
