For our next walk down memory lane, let's talk about the bevy of babies that Simple staffers have produced over the years. When I first started at the magazine, there were nothing but boys, boys, boys. Stacy, Don, Wendy and Carolyn had a combined total of 17 boys and no girls! But it didn't stay that way for long. Don finally added a baby girl (Maya) to his brood of five boys, and Stacy brought baby Addie home to four adoring older brothers. And here's a photo retrospective of other new additions.
Baby Addie helps celebrate Simple Scrapbooks' 5th anniversary in 2007.
Kyler Snow stopped in for a visit with his mom, Elisha, who left big brother Ryan (then a rambunctious 2-year-old) with a sitter. Kyler was always happiest when very tightly swaddled.
Simple's first senior editor, Ali Monson, left us to stay home with beautiful little Spencer. And we can't say we blame her.
Rachel Gainer started editing for us from home part-time after miss Shelby Kate entered the picture.
Bridget Dillow accompanied her mother Elizabeth on an important trip to Utah for a meeting regarding Elizabeth's book, The Scrapbooker's Almanac. Mi'Chelle Larsen, a contributor to the book, came along to assist with baby duty.
Nathan Palmer and mom Candice, one of our editorial board members, popped in to the office one day for a quick visit. If I'm remembering my numbers correctly, six of our eight 2007 board members gave birth while working for Simple! Elizabeth, Candice, Rebecca Cooper, Beth Proudfoot, Marnie Flores, and Margaret Scarbrough.
Over the years, we became quite experienced with the good, old-fashioned baby shower.
And once they're here, we are not opposed to putting them to work right away.

My favourite name I heard recently is Amelie Grace, but then that's because it's the name my best friend gave to her new baby girl!
The weirdest celebrity one I've ever heard has to be Moon Unit Zappa...

All my friends and family have been kind to their children, and not one has a truly "interesting" name. I even do volunteer work with kindergartners and can't think of one with a name that is unusual. I did go to high school with a red-haired girl named Peaches, though. I felt her parents weren't very nice to name her that, especially when I found out it wasn't just a nickname.

It's definitely hard to beat Jermajesty!!

My new niece is named Hayden Marie - I think that is very pretty, especially since I helped my SIL come up with the middle name.

I'm generally a fan of strange names! LOL! The best one I heard recently was Echo for a little girl. I love it!

Well, a name I heard recently was
Joshua Braedon ... I think that is a really strong sounding name for a boy. I don't like strange names. Kids have enough problems today. Names shouldn't be one of them! ;)

The best name I have heard recently was my cousin's little girl, Kinley. I always like names that aren't the most popular. Celebs always have the oddest name. I am not a fan of Apple (Gwenyth Paltrow) or CoCo (Courtney Cox). They were both born the same year as my son.

We just named our daughter Kalen...pronounced Kal - en, different...but hopefully a good different and not a bad one ;) Fifi and Coco...those are crazy!!

The best name I have heard recently is Sarah. Of course, that is the name of my daughter!

My sister-in-law wanted to name her baby Tearshatha (ugh!) but he was a boy so she named him Jerami (I think that spelling is awful, too!)

I previously took care of moms and newly delivered babies, and the worst name I saw (and there were two in one day) was Nevaeh. Yes, that's heaven backwards. Yuck!

I've been thinking about Sunday Rose (Nicole Kidman) is a good name or a bad name. So I'm counting it as both.

My friends just had twin girls and named them Charlotte and Lilah - I think they are both just beautiful names!!

It's lucky for me, I had a DGS and not a DGD. If it had been a girl, her name would have been Cynthany. It just isn't an easy name to pronounce. What if the sweet little one or anyone for that matter had any kind of a speech problem?

My sister works in a pediatrics office and is always coming home with stories of some of the names they see. A recent favorite: La-ah - and the mom was offended when they didn't automatically know it was pronounced "la-dash-uh"!

Even though it is very popular, I like the name Emma.

There's a family here that has two sons: Quirt and Whippop (called Whip for short). Now, I know we live in the West and this is a ranching family, but puuuuhleeeease!

Not saying good or bad - but will say I was a little confused my fiernd's new grandbaby's name - Houstyn - I thought it was a little bioy with one of those strange, um, I mean unique spellings - but it's a little girl - go figure is all I'm sayin'...

I think this is urban legend but did you hear about the baby girl named "female" (with a strong e at the end) - the mother said it was already there on the birth certificate.
The la-dash-ah story above is pretty funny :)

I'm with Apple--why give that name to a kid? But a pretty bad one I've heard: someone named their twins Luke and Leia. And another named his son Jedi. Yikes.

I just saw this in the entertainment headlines a few months back:
Lisa Bonet's new baby is named
Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa
That is an absolute mouthful. And can you even imagine signing anything? He is going to have to ask for two lines for his signature!

I recently met a young girl names Harper. I really liked it and it suited her well.
Posted by: Greer | April 30, 2009 at 11:13 AM
I will only tell you that it is pronounced "Shih-theed" I don't think I am allowed to write the actual "name".

How about Indiana Jones.
The Zappa names are good ones: Moon Unit, Dweezel, etc.
Then there's George Foreman's kids are all George, right?

Not sure if this falls into the good or the bad, but the little girl baptised during Sunday mass was Fiona. The name is cute; the Shrek correlation is unfortunate.
